Greater emphasis is placed on disease prevention within the jurisdiction. Dengue control programs, fumigation, public awareness programs, grant programs are implemented to curb the spread of epidemic diseases like dengue. To control the spread of dengue in Baddegama area, the Baddegama local council has implemented many different programs including door-to-door awareness campaigns, charity work, distribution of brochures, and fumigation. These programs identify the places where dengue mosquitoes can spread and destroy such places, take legal action against those who maintain dirty places so that dengue mosquitoes can spread and prepare plans for the next steps to be taken for dengue control.
